About P.A.R.T.S

Since being established in 2016, P.A.R.T.S has been known for an unparalleled commitment to educating professional sport coaches on their athlete's psychological state post-injury and what interventions they can implement to overcome these obstacles when returning to sport. It’s this standard of excellence in our workshops that has provided the impetus for us to be able to travel up and down the UK and grow into the business we are today.

We believe that the number of athlete's who are returning to sport physically, but not psychologically ready is on the rise - and through our workshops coaches can gain a better understanding of what's required for them to positively impact upon their athlete's psychological state. Get in touch today to learn more about what we have to offer.

Testimonials

Oatesy.png

"I am a professional football player, I came to P.A.R.T.S as a guest speaker following my Achilles tendon injury in 2016. P.A.R.T.S helped me realise that my coaches need to give me more social support and let me join in the workshop that I was speaking for, enhancing my knowledge of psychological interventions I can use in the future should I become injured again."

"Both being a guest speaker and participants in a P.A.R.T.S Workshop really opened my eyes. It showed me how important psychology is both during and after injury rehabilitation in order to achieve pre-injury standards I set myself."

Ben Tollitt - Portsmouth, Blackpool & Wrexham

"I really enjoyed being a guest speaker at the P.A.R.T.S CPD Workshop in Leeds back in 2018. The workshop was both educational and interactive, exactly what it said on the tin and I learned a lot."

What does the literature say?

During our workshops, we back up all of our teaching with relevant, up to date literature. Here are a few examples of some important information based on previous evidence and/or studies.

There is a need to examine the psychological impact of athlete injury because between 5 and 19% of injured athletes report psychological distress levels similar to individuals receiving treatment for mental Health Problems.

(Williams, J. M. and M. B Andersen, 1998).

It is apparent that the number of athletes who are returning to competitive sport before feeling mentally prepared to do so or in spite of the fact that they lack sufficient psychological skills necessary for coping with the challenges inherent in the return to sport transition has been ever rising.

Podlog & Eklund (2006)

Advances in medical treatments have reduced the time required for physical healing, which may result in athletes who are physically healed and ready to return to play but not yet psychologically recovered (Brink et al., 2010). This potential discrepancy between psychological and physical recovery calls for increased attention to the recovery process for injured athletes.

Brink et al (2010)
